Psst, here’s the scoop … my client Michael had already started working with a designer, but he soon became unhappy with her services, so he found me to finish decorating it (Ada to the rescuuuuue!), are you visualizing me with a flying cape. Today’s peek is into his cool master bedroom with lounge/ office space(and bathroom).
I confess, I was a lil reserved about meeting the client, bec what “if” the issue was the client, not the designer – yikes!! but I was wrong … the client was super sweet and simply needed a professional designer with rocking cool ideas (moi!) to illuminate his personality within his home and some TLC (for hey, he was burned already by another designer). Here’s how his master bedroom looked, looking a bit drab with no personality or warmth to it (trust me, even if the pic wasn’t in black and white it still looked zzzzzzz):
He already had gorgeous views and remote controlled shades, so we simply added sheers curtains to (1) give visual height and (2) soften up the space (fabrics = equates to soft hugs). Oh, did you see that we relocated the placement of the armchair …. glam’d lounge area:
No boringzzz home office in here – the room was infused with colors that Michael loves. If you look closely (no magnifier required, just observation) you will see that the overall (majority) furniture items have neutral colors (rug, lamp, chair, curtains, shades, desk, floor lamp), and the space is AWAKEN (there’s no napping while at the office right???!) with the orange/red chair and circular disc wall decor. Cool beans, right?
We relocated the armchair to the corner of the room to be hugged by the gorgeous views from the floor to ceiling windows. The area now became the a perfect spot for my client to kick off his shoes and relax = his very own lounge haven!
My client loves the water, so I made sure I sourced artwork that he loved while maintaining a cohesive design flow (mission accomplished!). In the bedroom, we gathered some personal photos and new art for this wall below and as you see I used paper as a template before I had the contractor do their magic . . .
Dontcha love this surveyor floor lamp. The BLACK lamp shade is also the key to making it a rocking cool design!
And did I mention you can vary its height! So cooooool.
We also added some colorful touches to his en suite bathroom . . .
