Thulhaadhoo Island

THULHAADHOO ISLAND

The main fruit grown on the island is from the breadfruit tree – shown above. See the round green objects in the trees? Those are the breadfruit. Aren’t they humongous! You will also see in the photos trees growing from INSIDE the homes, hammock style twined chairs, the contrast of colorfully painted homes, oh yes and the fruit bats that visit the island for the breadfruit. Some homes even go to the extent of surrounding the breadfruit with plastic bottles to keep the bats away. I personally found the bats adorable (okay, so I may be a bit weird!), though, the bats existence is very important bec they help pollinate – hence the lush humongous breadfruit.
